A real app example

Check one order before you trust a profit estimate.

This captioned walkthrough uses screen captures from a Numeross development store. It shows one synced sale, merchant-entered costs and the arithmetic behind the order estimate. It is an interface example, not a customer result or an accounting statement.

Example development store · No customer names, addresses or merchant outcomes are shown.

1 · Sync

Same Shopify order

Order #1001 appears in Numeross with its item, quantity and sales amount.

2 · Configure

Costs you control

This example uses $4 COGS and $0.50 Handling per item, for two items.

3 · Check

A reviewable estimate

$19.90 gross sale − $1.90 discount − $8 COGS − $1 Handling = $9 estimated order profit.

What this order estimate leaves out

The example store has no shipping-cost rule, so $0 shown for shipping is an unconfigured cost, not proof that delivery was free. Numeross does not import actual payment-gateway fees. Store-wide advertising and custom costs do not appear in an individual order estimate. Review refunds and tax treatment against Shopify and your own records before acting on the number.

Before you install

Why Numeross asks for Shopify access

The current install screen asks you to grant all six permissions below together; there is no per-permission choice today. Shopify permission names describe what an app could access, which can be broader than the fields used for this estimate. We are reviewing four permissions that may no longer be needed. This page describes the current request, not a completed reduction.

View orders read_orders

Used for: Syncing order and item IDs, dates, amounts, discounts, quantity and shipping country for the estimate.

Not used for: Editing orders or importing actual gateway fees.

Without it: Order sync and order-level estimates would not work. Required for the core feature.

View products read_products

Used for: Matching products and variants to the COGS and Handling amounts you enter.

Not used for: Changing product prices or records.

Without it: Product and variant cost setup would not work. Required for the core feature.

View customers read_customers

Current status: Requested at install. We have not identified a customer-profile feature needed to calculate the order estimate.

Not used for: Sending marketing to a store's customers.

Without it: No known estimate feature loss in the reviewed code. We are validating removal; order access can still involve protected customer data.

View analytics reports read_reports

Current status: Requested at install. Report-reading helpers remain in the code, but the current order sync we reviewed reads orders.

Not used for: Changing your Shopify reports.

Without it: No known loss in the reviewed order path; other paths need testing before we remove or defer it.

View returns read_returns

Current status: Requested at install. We have not identified a direct Return-object query in the order path reviewed.

Not used for: Creating or changing a return.

Without it: No known direct feature loss; refund and return cases need testing before removal. The estimate does not promise complete return costs.

Edit analytics reports write_reports

Current status: Requested at install. The reviewed code does not show a Shopify report-writing feature.

Not used for: Editing merchant reports as part of this profit estimate.

Without it: No known current feature loss. We are prioritizing validation and removal of this permission.

Shopify also displays categories of customer, device/activity and store-owner data on the listing. Orders can contain protected customer data even if Numeross does not request a buyer's name for this calculation. Read our privacy policy for data handling and deletion requests, or ask us to check your first estimate. You can revoke app access in Shopify admin.
